BaZi (八字, "Eight Characters") records the birth moment as four pillars — Year, Month, Day and Hour — each a pair of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch.

Why the solar terms matter

Unlike the Gregorian calendar, BaZi months begin at the jie qi solar terms (Lichun, Jingzhe, Qingming…), and the Year Pillar changes at Lichun (early February) — not January 1 and not Chinese New Year. Accurate BaZi therefore needs astronomical solar-term calculation, which is exactly what our engine does rather than approximating with fixed dates.

Reading the chart

The Day Master (day stem) represents you. The other seven characters are read against it as the Ten Gods (Officer, Wealth, Resource, Output, Peer…), and the overall Five-Elements balance indicates which elements support or drain the chart. The strength analysis on our result page is a transparent, classical heuristic — always presented as interpretive context, not fact.

Hour accuracy matters: an unknown birth time means the Hour Pillar is estimated and flagged as such.
