The Bone Weight method (Yuan Tiangang Cheng Gu Suan Ming) is attributed to the Tang-dynasty astronomer Yuan Tiangang. Your lunar birth year, month, day and hour each carry a fixed weight in qian (units of a liang); the total is looked up in the traditional Bone Weight Verses.
How it works
The year weight comes from the 60-cycle (sexagenary) year, the month and day weights from the lunar month and day, and the hour weight from the two-hour shichen. Example: Jia-Zi year (1 liang 2 qian) + first month (6 qian) + first day (5 qian) + Zi hour (1 liang 6 qian) = 3 liang 9 qian.
A note on how to use this
Bone Weight is a traditional Chinese metaphysical system, preserved as cultural heritage. It is not a scientifically validated prediction method. We present the verses with the original gender-specific text and encourage you to read them as folklore and reflection, not life planning.
